House Rules Recap

Channel 7’s House Rules contestants have been battling it out for the past 6 weeks. They have completed a dozen bathrooms so far, let’s take a look at some of the standout main bathroom and ensuite designs.

The house rules for the Rosebery renovation was to create a contemporary ‘café cool’ home that had emphasise on art, colour and shape to reflect urban edginess. The main bathroom as pictured below, used contrast to create impact by drawing your eye to the wet area. By using a black bath and detailed patterned tiles, a bold and sophisticated style was created. The harshness of the black and white was softened by textiles and accessories in blush pink. Thoughts?

The teams headed to South Australia transforming a West Beach house into a New York style warehouse. House rules of timber, bricks and feature walls were requested by the home owners along with dark greens and pale pinks. The main Bathroom below combined raw materials to create an industrial warehouse vibe. Subtle colour was brought into the space through towels and accessories with the use of matte black tapware and concrete tiles to create a sense of luxury. A timber wall hung vanity was also chosen, this added warmth and texture to the smooth surfaces in the space.

The ensuite in the South Australia home was also a show-stopper. The classic subway tiles were used in white and olive on the walls with a herringbone brick feature on the floor. The vanity used has draws with an open shelf at the bottom. This reminds us of our Montauk vanity, a classic and timeless vanity unit from our Hamptons collection available in white, black, south Hampton grey, grey gardens and duck egg.

The renovation in QLD required the teams to design the ultimate Aussie lad pad using deep blues and sleek surfaces. The image below courtesy of House Rules, channel 7, uses a sophisticated contemporary colour pallet with an espresso vanity unit to make an impact. What do you think?
